Public Access Computer Guidelines

Public Access Computer Guidelines

Computers are available throughout the library and are designated for different ages and specialized services. Please observe the following usage guidelines:

MCPL patrons with library cards in good standing must log-on to the computer using their MCPL barcode. MCPL patrons with library cards not in good standing must check-in at the Customer Service Desk. Out-of-District patrons must check-in at the Customer Service Desk, show identification and will be assigned to out-at-district computers only. All patrons must be in good standing to use a computer.

The time period for computer use is 1 hour. The time limit may be extended if computers are available and no one is waiting. At time of peak usage, the number of sessions and time may be limited based on the needs of the Library.

Internet computers are available for patrons 18 and older in the Adult Services Department. Internet computers are available for patrons 14 to 18 in the teen services area, the Underground. Internet computers are available for patrons 13 and younger in the Youth Services Department.

Children with a limited access card must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents can choose to allow their children, with a limited access card, to use the internet by signing the Policy on Public Use of the Internet. Signed Policy forms should be brought to the Customer Service desk for processing.

No more than 2 persons may use a computer at the same time.

Printing

  • All printing, saving and downloading onto a disc must be completed within the allotted timeframe.
  • A library card account is required for all printing. Funds may be added to a library card account at the Customer Service Desk.
  • The printing charge is $0.10 for black and white and $0.25 for color per printed page

All individuals who access the Internet should be aware that the library has no control over this research tool and assumes no responsibility for its content, quality, accuracy or currency.
