On August 6th the library once again joined Councilman Kevin J. LaValle and the Suffolk County Police 6th precinct in presenting National Night Out, at the Town of Brookhaven Centereach Pool Complex. This free event was part of a nationwide annual community building campaign promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. More than 1,000 youth and their families enjoyed a fun filled evening which included free swimming, a touch-a-truck area, a wide range of community organizations and youth-friendly activities and a performance by the library’s Flashing Fingers group. This year the library’s media teens created a short highlight video that will be posted on our YouTube channel in the coming weeks.
