The library has started its long planned renovation of the adult reading room in the Centereach building. Please see below for more details regarding the project, and please check this page for future updates.
When will construction take place?
Construction is ongoing and projected to be complete by early summer 2022.
Will patrons have access to library services during construction?
Throughout the renovation, patrons will still have access to all library collections. Patrons will still have access to the upper and lower mezzanines in Adult Services and the entire Youth Services Floor. The Adult Reference desk is being temporarily relocated to the Community Room, along with the New Book and Large Print collections and the public access computers and print station. The periodical collection has temporarily been moved to the lower mezzanine.
How will the library be improved?
As part of the renovation, the library will be adding a dedicated Innovation space, featuring makerspace tools such as 3D printers and a laser engraver, a new quiet study room, and two new small study rooms, similar to the ones available now at the Selden building. The library will also be adding a small cafe, in response to many patron requests over the past few years to do so.
